The hilarious and supremely daft angry emoji brigade

Most intelligent people appreciate that social media platforms like many commercial TV channels exist through advertising funds. The actual customers for platforms like FB are those who pay for advertising, the rest are “users: where there’s no financial exchange, although you could argue that there is a price paid in other ways such as access to data. Of course most people won’t bother to read the terms and conditions they agree to in joining and using the platforms.

Pesky details about sponsored ads v “spam”

FB in particular allows users both as individuals and companies to take out advertising. They ultimately decide where these ads appear with some input from customers. Most people understand this simple truth, yet a few characters still feel that any ads appearing on their FB, are spam posts. Anyone using these platforms can of course indicate that they don’t want to see such adverts. Otherwise its like ringing a commercial TV station and complaining that the ads in the TV breaks are spam and should in your view be immediately removed!

Of course you never please everyone by any kind of article or post, but most of the angry emojis and enthusiastic negative graphics are from men who seen to have very few FB friends on their pages or be obsessed with cars, guns or right wing politics. Make of that what you will…Some of the posts are hilarious and of course its always a tiny monority of people who really don’t understand the difference between a sponsored advert that funds the existance of the platform and spam posts.

3600 likes, 2 angry emojis!

A recent post had 3600 likes and two angry emojis from one Paulo and Steven . I’ve no idea who these people are and they don’t seem to have any love for music judging from their own pages. Of cousrse I welcome all discussion and debate, but simply posting angry emojis is IMO a true sign of laziness. GER is from music lovers for music lovers. Its not for everyone, but basic good manners are always welcome and expected.

The latest outburst, here’s Gareth William Evans

Whoopty Fucking Do, what a pile of shit delivered through useless Facebook sponsored ads rubbish.

This is a typical level of engagement and as usual they post, cut and run! I’m pondering a competition for the daftest/most outraged comment of the year with a prize to an anger management helpline!

STOP PRESS – another USA right wing fanatic just had a tantrum online – “Geoff Warren” God bless him!

and other one just in, yes, another angry guy who doesn’t know about and/or can’t use spell check

“FECK OFF WITH THIS BOLLIX”

Double that ad spend!

Oh one final point… If we I lots of angry emojis and responses, I double the original ad budget! I’m a big fan of free speech and think that good discussion and debate is how we all learn. GER is about the love of music. Nobody needs to spend time on social media, read blogs etc.
