More from Martin Simpson Live May 20th

I’m still reeling from the 4th GER/Music for Head & Heart showcase with Martin Simpson as the headline. Support was from The Small Change Diaries and this was an amazing evening, standing room only.

Pure Martin Simpson musical magic

The Old Woollen in Leeds is a superb venue and this was a great evening for music lovers. Martin is an extraordinary performer and he was 100% on form, playing for almost 2 hours. The audienced loved the set and it was a masterclass in entertainment. I lost track of how many songs Martin played and it was like being transported to another dimension. My producer’s brother was one of a number of people who had never seen Martin live before and were totally blown away by his music.

Highlights for me included “Buckets of Rain” “Never any good with money” and “Heartbreak Hotel” This is entertainment at its very best and Martin never sounded better. The guitar sound was quite amazing and The Old Woollen is the perfect venue for such great music.

Support from The Small Change Diaries

The Small Change Diaries ran the support slot with Jon Burr sitting in. They started with “There’s only one of you” and finished with “Perfect Place” both from their debiut album. This was a great musical warm up for Martin and the audience really enjoyed the set.

The next Music for Head and Heart showcase will be on September 23rd with Towse, Harry Orme and Nick Cody and The Heartache at Heart Leeds. This promises to be another great evening of entertainment and all previous showcases have sold out.
